Three former Red Bull drivers have spoken about their time working with Adrian Newey, on the week in which his departure from the Milton Keynes-based team was confirmed.
Adrian Newey will end his nearly two-decade relationship with Red Bull in early 2025. Red Bull’s former drivers – Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, and Alex Albon – have shared their thoughts on his surprising departure. After leading Red Bull to 13 F1 world titles, Newey will reportedly move on to new opportunities, with strong links to Ferrari, something Lewis Hamilton is eager to see. Current Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have commented on Newey’s exit, stating that it is business as usual for the team. Numerous former Red Bull drivers have also weighed in on Newey’s legendary career as the top technical mind in F1 history. Albon, recalling his time at Red Bull, praised Newey’s humility and open-mindedness and wished him the best in his future endeavors. Ricciardo and Gasly also expressed gratitude for the privilege of working with Newey and praised his exceptional talent and innovative approach to Formula 1 car design.
